This past summer I had the priviledge of studying abroad through the Oxford Study Program in collaboration with SWBTS (Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.) I stayed at Regents Park College in Oxford, and traveled to London, Cambridge, and Edinburgh University in Scotland. One of the highlights of my trip was visiting a church in the little town of Olney, which was onced pastored by John Newton (1725-1807), the author of "Amazing Grace."
It was certainly a memorable experience to sing the words of this great hymn in the very place where its author had onced served, preached, and prayed.
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found
T'was blind but now I see
And Grace, my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
We have already come.
T'was grace that brought us safe thus far
And grace will lead us home,
