Zelda Meneses-Reus, NCTM
Currently pursuing a PhD in Church Music at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Zelda has an extensive musical background, specializing in hymnology. She received her B.A. in Music from the University of Louisiana, Monroe, and her Master of Arts in Worship from Dallas Baptist University, where she was a member of Theta Alpha Kappa, the National Honor Society for Religious Studies and Theology. She currently serves at First Baptist Church, San Antonio, as piano instructor for their outreach music ministry, teaching several international students who are scholarship recipients.
Zelda has a special love for children, homeschooling her own sons from Pre-K to 8th grade. She has attended workshops and conferences on piano pedagogy from Russian instructor, Irina Gorin, author of the respected children's piano method, Tales of a Musical Journey. Zelda is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) through MTNA, and is a member of TMTA and SAMTA.
Students taught by Mrs. Zelda have gone on to receive music scholarships, music degrees, and have been chosen as participants in the local SAMTA Judges' Choice Recital at UTSA.
Sound Engineer/Guitar Instructor
Brian brings both his love of music and his expertise in technology together at The Heights Conservatory. Brian has been involved in the professional music industry, both as a musician and as a sound engineer for over twenty years. Brian offers on site audio recording services for live events such as recitals, ensemble performances, and concerts, as well as live sound mixing and production services.
Church ministry has held a special place in Brian's life, as he has served as a church musician, guitar instructor, and sound tech. More recently, he has served in the TV Ministry at First Baptist Church, San Antonio, as recording engineer.
Brian has a degree in Network Systems Administration, and is currently pursuing a degree in Cyber Security from Wayland Baptist University. More info on his sound engineering services can be found at https://reussoundtech.com/
Chris Bendrell is an accomplished cellist, vocalist and conductor, with a particular love for English church music. Chris performs regularly with vocal ensembles such as Illumen, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Choir, Temple Beth-El choir, Musica Sacra San Antonio, and others. He is founder and artistic director of the student vocal ensemble Octavo and former music director at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit.
Chris has a degree in music performance and is pursuing a degree in Sacred Music from Our Lady of the Lake University, and directs the advanced vocal ensemble there.
Chris’ students have gone on to be awarded top chairs in TMEA all state ensembles and pursue music in major conservatories.
Irena Taylor received her teaching degree from Houghton College, and a certificate in Religious Studies from Cambridge University. She studied with Paul Ingbretson at his atelier for classical drawing and painting (Boston School) and Cambridge Street Studio in Philadelphia.
Irena works in charcoal, pastel, watercolor, and oil. She enjoys most subjects, though portrait and figurative are her favorites. Her landscapes are primarily done en plein air.
Irena taught youth and adults for several years at the Coppini Academy of Fine Art, San Antonio TX. Currently Irena takes private students. Her teaching goal is to help students develop their appreciation for beauty and attain a high level of skill in their craft as artists.
